Mark Nickerson, LICSW

Mark Nickerson, LICSW is a psychotherapist, clinical consultant and trainer of psychotherapy methods with an expertise in trauma treatment. He has practiced in the Amherst, MA region for over 35 years,  He is an EMDR Institute Trainer, an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and past Board President of the EMDR International Association. He provides basic and advanced EMDR therapy trainings throughout the US and internationally.

He is editor/author of Cultural Competence and Healing Culturally Based Trauma with EMDR Therapy: Insights, Strategies and Protocols (Springer, 2023 2nd edition) and The Wounds Within (Skyhorse, 2015), an expose on the challenges for war veterans and their families. Nickerson also hosts psychotherapy trainings led by other topic experts and are featured at (EMDRadvancedtrainings.com).

Within the local community, Nickerson co-founded the Men’s Resource Center of Western MA in 1985, a unique organization that offered a variety of services including state-certified domestic violence intervention groups. As the Director of Parent Education for the Hampshire County Court’s Bar Association for 20 years, he designed & facilitated innovative and award-winning programs to reduce conflict between separated parents, including a skills-based co-parenting class for separated parents.
