Mark Nickerson, LICSW

Mark Nickerson is a psychotherapist, clinical consultant and trainer who has practiced in the Amherst, MA region for 35 years, with an expertise in trauma treatment. He is an EMDR Institute Trainer and EMDRIA Approved EMDR Consultant. He was Board President of the EMDR International Association Board and is currently Chair of the Clinical Practice Group of the Council of Scholars Future of EMDR Project. He speaks, consults and conducts trainings nationally and internationally on a range of mental health topics including trauma-informed treatment, EMDR therapy, treatment for problem behaviors, conflict resolution, cultural competence and treating culturally based trauma, and principles and procedures in EMDR therapy.

Within the local community, Nickerson co-founded the Men’s Resource Center of Western MA in 1985, a unique organization that offered a variety of services including state-certified domestic violence intervention groups. As the Director of Parent Education for the Hampshire County Court’s Bar Association for 20 years, he designed & facilitated innovative and award-winning programs to reduce conflict between separated parents, including a skills-based co-parenting class for separated parents.
